Ms. Brooke Allen
Principal
Greetings! My name is Brooke Allen and this is my 7th year as principal at Troy Heritage Trail Elementary School. I am thrilled to be to be a part of the wonderful staff here and am looking forward to opportunities that will help me grow as an educational leader and advocate for children.
I grew up in Palos Park with my parents and two younger brothers. We are a very close-knit family, even though geography and hectic lifestyles sometimes prevent us from spending as much time together as we’d like! Education was THE priority in our home while we were growing up. School always came first. My parents taught us the importance of creating a balance between school, home life, and extracurricular activities, and that continues to serve me well in my personal and professional lives. I could not have had better role models growing up and I am thankful for my parents’ guidance because it helped me become the person I am today.
I have two beautiful daughters, Brittany and Brenna, who bring so much joy to my life each and every day. I have two beautiful granddaughters, Addison Brooke, age 9, and Harper Rose, age 4 1/2. I could never have dreamed how fulfilling and exciting being a grandparent would be. I was fortunate enough to be able to stay home with my children until my youngest daughter turned four. At that point, I decided to go back to school and earn my teaching degree. I truly felt that I had a calling to become an educator. I had several teachers throughout my school years that inspired and encouraged me to follow my dreams. As an adult, I realized that I wanted the opportunity to have that same impact on children. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Governors State University in December of 2002. I began my career in education 17 years ago in the Troy District as a fifth grade teacher at Troy Crossroads! After 3 ½ years, the district opened the beautiful William B. Orenic Intermediate School. I taught there for four very rewarding years. During that time, I earned my Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Francis. I had always felt at some point in my career I would be ready to enter the realm of school administration. I fulfilled that goal eight years ago when I became the assistant principal at Troy Hofer and Troy Shorewood Elementary schools. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in both buildings. I returned to Troy Crossroads the following year as assistant principal and district preschool director. My previous administrative experiences provided ample opportunities for me to grow as an educational leader and have prepared me for the next exciting steps on my journey of life-long learning.
I am honored to call Troy Heritage Trail my “school home” and thrilled to be a part of such a dedicated and caring school community!

Mrs. Libby Schwaegler
Assistant Principal
I am honored to work with the amazing families and staff at Troy Heritage Trail Elementary. This is my third year as assistant principal and I look forward to continued service to the HT community as we make this a great school year!
This is my 15th year as an educator. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and a license to teach secondary math. In addition, I hold a Masters of Arts in Teacher Leadership in Mathematics from Aurora University, and a Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration from North Central College. I served the East Aurora school district for twelve years prior to coming to Troy, beginning my career as a middle school math teacher. After seven years, I stepped into a teacher-leader role as a district math facilitator, supporting math instruction in kindergarten through eighth grade classrooms for five years. It is my privilege to be a member of the Troy 30c Community of Learners in my first role as an administrator.
I currently live in Naperville with my husband and our four children. Watching my own children learn and grow has shaped me as an educator. I strongly believe that each of our Heritage Trail students deserves a learning environment that is rich in engagement and supportive of individual needs. I am confident that our school will continue to be a place where all students flourish both academically and socially.
